Harsh, dry winds and scorching heat are the hallmark traits of the Windshear Desert. Few travelers dare venture into the inhospitable wasteland, and fewer still are those who actually travel beyond the border trail leading west around the Gorestone magma plains to the Quorith Plains, or east into the Sundered Chasm. Beyond this ancient trail, which lies about a day’s journey into the sands, the dunes become higher, the winds stronger, and water scarcer. The desert is almost entirely unknown beyond the trail markers, but rumours abound of abandoned treasure troves, dragon’s lairs, and ancient underground kingdoms waiting to be rediscovered. The truth behind any such rumours is questionable, known only to the most learned of scholars and, perhaps, contained within the lost journal entries of Janos Grit’s final journey, deep into the wastes.
